Gatorade using solar power
Description: The Gatorade Factory uses solar panels for its energy.
Summary:
The Gatorade factory in Arizona is installing a 500 kilowatt system of solar panels. It will provide energy for about 40% of their annual needs. They are slowly becoming more green. It is the first project like that, that they are doing so hopefully it will spread to other branches too. It is a very costly thing but over time it is cost effective and good for the environment. Other big companies are starting to try and go green too. They are trying to use alternative energy sources and all together stop using fossil fuels.
Reflection/Opinion:
I think that this is a very good thing. A lot of people are always drinking Gatorade, especially when they are doing sports, including me. It is a good thing that they are setting a good example and making their facility greener. Hopefully now that one big business has chosen to use alternative energy sources, others will too. A lot more businesses need to start doing this too so our environment is cleaner for the future.
Questions:
1) Will they eventually switch over to using all alternative energy or solar energy?
2) How long will it be until this makes an impact on our environment?
3) Once this factory changes, will all the other ones start to switch over too?
Opinion/Reflection: From tonight's homework about properties of fossil fuels, I learned about the detrimental impacts that fossil fuels can have on our environment. It really made me worried about the harmful effects it can have on the atmosphere and other living organisms, including humans. So reading about a huge company, such as Gatorade, investing money in alternative energy sources really gave me a hope. Like Emmy said, I hope other companies and organizations get inspired by this and limit their use of fossil fuels as well for the sake of our environmental health.
ReplyDeleteQuestions:
1) How much money will Gatorade save by investing in solar panels?
2) Will the Gatorade company install solar panels in other factories throughout this country as well?
3) Are solar panel the least expensive alternative energy source?
Opinion:
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a very good thing to do. We need to start using more alternative sources. Especially big companies because they can easily afford it and many of them can cause a lot of pollution. On our homework we learned that we only have a limited amount of our fossil fuels. The sooner we start using the alternative energies the better off our environment will be. Also we could let our fossil fuels rebuild and maybe not even need to use them because our alternative energies are so efficient.
Questions:
How much money can Gatorade save by having these solar panels?
What other big companies are using/promoting alternative energies?
What is the most cost efficient alternative energy?
Opinion:
ReplyDeleteI think it is really good that a major, iconic company like Gatorade is switching to Solar power. I am willing to bet that nearly everybody in the United States has heard of Gatorade. If other people hear that Gatorade is switching to a greener source of energy, perhaps there will be many more people following their lead.
